Last term, the Year 7s entered into the Fraser Coast Regional Council’s Water and Waste Wise Challenge. The students worked on their competition entries in English as an informative texts unit (inspired by the ISQ Curriculum Innovation and Assessment Design project) and during COPE.
On Friday, it was announced that the students were awarded first place in the Junior Secondary School category!
Year 7 has earnt themselves a prize of $250 worth of Bunnings vouchers. Four groups have also received highly commended certificates as they presented projects that were inventive and employed the concepts of reduce, reuse and recycle:
• The compost bin made from recycled materials,
• The layered garden bed with the ability to recycle water,
• The beeswax wraps which saves using plastic wrapping and
• The animated video which was a modern, creative way of demonstrating the message.
